Citadel and Citadel Securities were proud to partner sponsor with The Greenwood Project, a Chicago-based non-profit dedicated to building career pathways in finance for Black and Latino students from low-income neighborhoods, again this year as the lead sponsor of their Summer FinTech Institute hosted at DePaul University’s downtown campus.
The intensive six-week summer program teaches financial literacy, coding and career skills to expose high school students, primarily from Chicago’s South and West Sides to careers in the financial services industry at a pivotal point in their academic journey.
The Greenwood Project has doubled the size of its high school FinTech program for local youth with support from Citadel and Citadel Securities. More than 75% of the Greenwood Project’s alums have ultimately entered full-time jobs in the finance industry.
Reflecting on their experience, one Scholar shared: “I can’t tell you enough how this [summer] has impacted me. I am so grateful for all the people I met. I had an opportunity to network with other Greenwood scholars [and] big financial companies like Citadel… My knowledge about the stock market, investing, and the financial industry has grown tremendously. I felt surrounded by youth like me who are willing and eager to do something better with their life.”
